A Year In Review
Hi there!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! 🎄🪩✨
Thanks for taking a moment to stop by. I thought it’d be fun to wrap up this year with a digital postcard — so green, modern, etc… definitely not just because I procrastinated this until the last minute.
🚀 Professional Endeavors
This year was all about growth and balancing growing my career and building something meaningful with my talents. Earlier this year, the company I was working for, Tango, was acquired by a company down in California and I had an opportunity to think about what I wanted to do next. If you’ve know me well, you know that I’m the app guy for Treefort Music Fest and have been building software and apps for other festivals as well. This summer I took a leap and decided to lean in on helping more events do the work that truly matters, bringing people together. (If that sounds cheesy, pls help us come up with some better way to communicate that, but we mean it I swear! 🙃)
Our current codename is Dionysus, which is the greek god of festivities, and we have been gaining momentum, exploring how we can best help event organizers beyond just music festivals. We’ve been pitching to new customers, rolling out lots of iOS and Android apps, and building web technologies for events of all sizes. It’s been rewarding to see the vision come to life. It’s a huge change of pace working for yourself and has a few challenges — tight deadlines, late nights, and the occasional impostor syndrome — but Will and I are building something awesome and we’re stoked.
🌄 Personal Adventures
I pushed myself physically and mentally this year.
Fitness Wins: I ran my first half marathon this year with my pal Shelby, consistently worked out with the awesome men of F3 (read my Facebook post here), and made it back up to the top of Mt. Borah.
Exploration: Many a roadtrip was taken in Wattson, backpacking and camping galore with friends and family, and I got to see like 50+ bands live this year. I spent more time outdoors and less time glued to screens — mostly.
Relationships: I’m still a bachelor, but I was more intentional with my people this year and have shared some truly beautiful moments with y’all. Some of you have been doing life with me for 10+ years here in Boise, and others I just met this year, but I have loved growing with all of you. Exciting news is that I’m about to become an uncle x2 — both of my sister-in-laws are pregnant! :)
🎯 Looking Ahead
As 2025 approaches, I’m aiming to keep building—business, relationships, and a healthier, more grounded version of myself. I’m grateful for the people in my life who keep me grounded, inspired, and smiling. I’ve got a long list of people to visit, places to explore, and concerts to enjoy this next year. Ask me who, where, what :)
The Lord has blessed me in so many ways this year and is continually giving me opportunities to continue to trust in what He has planned for me and I’m here for it!
If we haven’t connected in a while, I’d love to catch up. Shoot me a message, drop by Boise, or let’s grab coffee somewhere between here and your corner of the world.
If you do find yourself in Boise, I’d love to take you to my favorite restaurant, my treat!
I promise it won’t disappoint :)
Wishing you a joyful, memorable start to the new year.
Cheers!
Matt
